Peace began to walk down the staircase taking a step at a time. The idea of leaving Nath and Ellen behind all alone in the classroom which usually gets her jealous didn’t come to her mind again. All she could think of was why Kennedy would do the assignment for her after all she did to him. Before she came out from the thought, she found herself outside the school building, so she hurried to her hostel. : On the other hand inside the classroom, Nath was still standing beside Ellen with his two hands holding the handle of his bag that hung on his back. “What are you still doing here?” he asked. “Nothing” Ellen stood up and began to pack her books. “Oh i get it!” Nath exclaimed nodding his head. “You are waiting for your husband” “My husband?” “Yes” “Who?” “Me of course” Nath jokingly replied smiling. “You’re not okay” Ellen smiled too. She used the last book she wanted to put into her bag and hit him romantically. “Silly boy” she added and finally put the book. “But who are you waiting for? Simeon?” Nath asked seriously but Ellen remained quiet as she bent to tie her shoe lace. After that, she stood erect, hung her bag and said with a smile, “We can go now” The smile set Nath in confusion coz he didn’t expect that, so he nodded his head and they walked out silently. As they moved down the staircase slowly taking a step at a time, Nath asked, “Why did you ignore my question?” “What question?” Ellen glanced at him. “About Simeon” “Please, i don’t want to talk about him” “Why?” “Because i don’t want to!” “You must!” Ellen stopped, she looked at Nath and said, “And i said i won’t! What will you do?” “I’ll pour you water!” Nath replied thereby reminding them about the explosion that happened in the lab, so both giggled. “You think it’s funny, right?” Ellen briskly walked down several stairs leaving him behind. “I’m sorry!” Nath ran after her. “You always look more beautiful when you’re angry that’s why i like upsetting you” he added walking beside her. “You have come with your troubles again” Ellen said pointing her fingers at him with a smile on her face. “Yes, i know you miss it” Nath replied. Ellen wanted to move forward again leaving him behind but he held her hand and drew her back in a away they faced each other looking into their eyes. “I’m really sorry about the explosion” Nath began with a calmed romantic voice. “Please, forgive me” he added. Ellen felt and saw a different Nath that moment. Hearing him on that tune increased her heartbeat. “Is okay” she managed to say. “Thank you” “You’re welcome” She turned to go but was surprise to know that Nath was still holding her. “What’s it again?” she asked. “Sorry, nothing” Nath released her then took three steps forward. When he noticed that she was still standing behind, he said, “Let’s go” “Do you want to tell me anything?” Ellen also took three steps down. “No” “Sure?” “Yes” “Okay” both remained quiet. They began to walk down the remaining stairs silently and simultaneously. As they walked, Nath gently held her palm which she reciprocated and tightened it with his. Both smiled without looking at each other. ** Peace entered her room, flung her school bag and sat on a plastic chair holding her cheek. On the bed was Olivia who laid face up wearing a black pant and bra. On her hands was a novel titled ‘The Darkest Hour’ by Bright Daniel. When she noticed Peace’s mood, she closed the book. “Girl, are you okay? What did Nath say about the assignment?” she asked. “Nath isn’t the one that did the assignment” Peace replied without looking at her. “Then who did?” “He said Kennedy did” “What?!” Olivia sat up and kept the book beside her. “You mean after all you did to him, he still helped you with the assignment? Why?” “I don’t know” “Only a person who loves you can do that and always wants the best for you. That’s exactly what Kennedy does” Olivia concluded while Peace remained quiet regrating her actions. ** Ellen entered her room with a happy smile on her face. Unlike her, she walked straight to where Juliet was sitting on the bed with an assignment book on her thighs and touched her jaw as if she was a baby. “Haah..
